Antique Mystery Show

Right before we moved into this house I went to an estate tag sale and picked this up for about $200. I thought it was really unique and could make a great conversational piece. Too bad I don't know much about it so there's not much to the conversation!

Everything on it is hand carved and there is a glass overlay on the top. It came with the original lock and seems to be in perfect condition.

Please share with me if you know any information about chests similar to this piece. I know that the previous owners like to travel so I'm assuming this is something they picked up overseas.

    OMG!!!! What you have looks like it could be the Ark of the Covenant!!! It is priceless,,,but ummhhh what did you do with the original contents???

    To be very serious it does look like you have a priceless antique. Very late 1800s though looking at it again i see the early 1900s. Very beautifully hand carved, very rare and possibly one of a kind. Im not sure about the price range but you definantly made an excellent find.Please tell me where these estate tag sales are! Thank you for sharing this piece of history with your readers.
